| Bernissartia ('of
Bernissart') is an extinct genus of crocodilian that was 60 cm (2
ft) long. Bernissartia is one of the smallest crocodylians that
ever lived. It resembled modern species and was probably semi-aquatic.
It had long, pointed teeth at the front of the jaw for catching
fish, and
broad, flat teeth at the back crushing
shellfish and possibly bones of
carrion.
It lived during the early
Cretaceous in modern day
England
and
Belgium.
